The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the price of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.

In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one company is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
